Let’s take a moment to hone in on a real talent. Sam Darnold. He got paid $10MM and won 14 games. Not including rookie contracts, no quarter back worth his ass makes $10MM dollars and starts a football game. Meanwhile, Sammy buckets waltzes in and decides he wants to make $100MM more. Thanks Seattle. If someone could do the math, that has to be the most successful $10MM a franchise has ever spent, and the Vikes let him walk for a hobbled second year qb who draws smiley faces on t-shirts (all due respect to JJ McCarthy but not really).

Now let’s take a step back and admire Sammy’s numbers from this past year. 4,300 passing yards, 35 passing tds, and 200 yards with his feet (don’t forget he was once touted Sam “Michael Vick” Darnold by what ever idiot runs the NFL YouTube account. All jokes aside he can scramble but what an unbelievably stupid caption. Whoever typed that deserves a Bret Bielema finger wag ejection, and frankly it doesn’t matter who dishes it out. Can be Godell, can be a janitor. Doesn’t matter. Keep him away from the facilities and make him feel really bad about himself).

Last but not least, let’s take a peak at his activities off the field. His sheer talent can get you into any party, but Sammy Vick will keep you there talking to girls you shouldn’t be talking to in situations you shouldn’t be putting yourself in. Not a bad trait by any means. It might even be an admirable trait. But unfortunately it’s not one you want your franchise QB to have because, as Adam Gase so eloquently phrased it in his career defining press conference on a dreary Tuesday morning, “14 got mono”.  In just his second season in the NFL, Darnold got side lined by a person who he refers to as “a kind lady, but not that hot” and reportedly has never felt same since. That is until he suited up in purple and white this past season and shocked the world. So while some people may write Darnold off as a one hit wonder, he’s healthy now, and he won’t be writing back, following in the footsteps of the great Seahawk QBs that have came before him.
